The Platinum Jubilee has its own emoji - meet PJ the corgi
When you think of the queen, you think of her loyal companions - and what could be more loyal than a corgi? PJ is a nod to Her Majesty's love of the breed, and is sure to get everyone in the celebratory mood.
The Royal Family has revealed a brand-new emoji to mark the hotly-anticipated occasion. PJ the corgi is the official Platinum Jubilee emoji, and can be used on social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram.
What is the Platinum Jubilee?
The Platinum Jubilee is a celebration of the queen's 70 years on the throne. It will take place from June 2-5, with a number of events planned across the country to mark the occasion.
On June 2, there will be a special service at St Paul's Cathedral, followed by a procession through London. On June 3 and 4, there will be a series of concerts at Buckingham Palace, while on June 5 there will be a carriage procession from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade.
How to use PJ the corgi on Twitter
Users may use PJ the corgi to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee by using a variety of hashtags on Twitter. The Royal Family's Twitter account explained:
"PJ will appear whenever you use #PlatinumJubilee #HM70 #PlatinumPartyatthePalace #PlatinumJubileePageant or #TheBigJubileeLunch and we’re hoping that as many of you as possible will use PJ to help celebrate the Jubilee here on Twitter."
How to use PJ the Corgi on Instagram
The corgi will be a sticker on the picture-sharing app Instagram that people may include in their postings during Queen Elizabeth II's diamond jubilee. Along with a variety of other royal-themed stickers, there will also be a new filter for royal enthusiasts to use throughout the celebrations.
Although there is no official hashtag for the PJ the corgi emoji on Instagram, users can still include the emoji in their posts by tagging the official Royal Family account (@theroyalfamily).
The Royal Family Instagram account shared this about the new additions to instagram:
"Meet ‘PJ’ our Platinum Jubilee corgi! Other stickers include a guardsman and his horse enjoying a Jubilee tea, a crown, a popping bottle of champagne and bunting. There’s also a new filter which will enable you to try on a crown for size. We’re hoping as many of you as possible use these tools to celebrate the Jubilee with us here on Instagram."
