For the past five years, she has been documenting her health journey, sharing tips and motivating others to make positive changes in their lives. And her efforts have not gone unnoticed. Her followers have grown by leaps and bounds, and she has even been featured in major news outlets.
But it's not just her online fans who are taking notice. Recently, she was moved to tears after receiving a message from a woman who said that she had been inspired by the 76-year-old's story to make some changes of her own.

Joan's daughter encouraged her mother to join with a group of other women and work together to turn their lives around since Joan was suffering from high blood pressure, tiredness, and difficulty in getting up and down the stairs. Joan, who lives in Canada, has now looked back on how far she's come in a video posted to her YouTube channel, Joan Macdonald, where she has over 80,000 subscribers. "It's been over five years since I first started my health transformation journey," Joan said. Sharing before and after photos via her popular Instagram account, Joan, who has more than 1.6 million followers, added: "I wanted to share some of my experiences with you in this film—it's been over 5 years since I first started my health transformation journey."
"I have always been a big thinker," she said. "But after I started working out, the way I think about fitness has dramatically changed. Now that I know things, I am confident with this lifestyle." Joan, who uses the Instagram handle @trainwithjoan, regularly promotes her fitness accomplishments and milestones on social media.
She doesn't see it as simply a weight-loss endeavour. Her journey has been termed a "transformation period" during which she has accomplished more than she had ever imagined possible. "I feel better than I've ever felt in my life," Joan said. "My advice for anyone out there is that it's never too late to start living a healthier lifestyle."
